Though brought up in the English midlands, Julie moved to Scotland aged 22 and apart from a brief spell in Newcastle has remained here since.
Julie studied Drawing and Painting, attaining a B.A.Hons and a Post Grad. Diploma at Edinburgh College of Art and later a Master of Fine Art at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Having always been interested in ceramics Julie began potting in the mid nineties and got hooked.
Julie joined Edinbane Pottery in 1998. She has created the “Beachcomber” and “Limpet” ranges of tableware and also makes one off pieces… and paints when she get the time!
Julie’s work is inspired mainly by the Skye environment, especially sea and shore. Flotsam and Jetsam, rocks, sea creatures, plants, the light on the water.
